Fort Augustus is an ideal base for touring the Highlands of Scotland, with the Highland Capital 1 hour to the North and the Outdoor Capital 1 hour to the South you will never be short of things to see and do. Take a boat trip on the famous Loch Ness then sit and watch the boats sail through the Caledonian Canal. Or why not float to the top of Aonach Mor on one of the Gondolas at Nevis range and enjoy lunch at the top of the world. You can relive the journey taken by Harry Potter on the Steam train to Mallaig through some of the most spectacular scenery the Highlands can offer. Fish & Chips at Mallaig is second to none. Visit Inverness our bustling new city which is full of culture and entertainment throughout the year, stop of at Urquhart castle on route and take in the breathtaking scenery, and maybe even catch a glimpse of Nessie. Go back in time with a visit to Culloden battle field, and Inverness Museum. A holiday in the Highlands is not complete without a visit to the Isle of Skye, stop of at Plockton a quaint wee village (home to the TV series Hamish Macbeth) and sample some of the finest seafood in Britain before crossing the toll free Skye bridge, and take in the views. A must for the ladies is the wonderful Skye Jewellers, on the Main Street in Broadford where you can sample the world’s finest hand made jewellery, famous for its unique wedding bands and gifts for that special occasion. The area also offers bird watching, mountain biking, golf, horse riding and many more out door activities or simply chill out in the tranquil surroundings.
